How to Use Technology to Become Familiar in a New Neighborhood

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you set new roots in unfamiliar territory. The sights and sounds can seem daunting to you, but it’s important to become familiar as soon as you settle in your new Bloomsbury Residences condo. That said, you should take a deep breath, calm yourself, and read our five tips to get acquainted with your new place.

Take a Short Walk

After unpacking and settling in, you should set your sights outdoors and explore your new location. Take a short walk around when time allows so you can see nearby landmarks and places where you can dine, shop, or get basic necessities. A quick 15-30 minute walk in a radius should give you an idea of what’s available.

How to Use Technology to Become Familiar in a New Neighborhood

Read About the Neighborhood Online

The internet is a vast resource for all things, including what you can do in your new place. A quick search on Google should give you a list of notable spots for entertainment and leisure, as well as places that locals visit most often.

Google/Apple Maps is Your Best Friend

Use your smartphone’s navigational app to save new locations so you won’t get lost. While navigating new territory, keep it close at hand and refer to it every now and then on your phone or connected smartwatch.

One Landmark at a Time

Don’t overwhelm yourself while exploring your new location. Go out once a week during weekends, or several places in the span of a weekend. It’s more important to get your bearings and not to have to rely on Google Maps or Apple Maps in the long run.

Hire a Guide on Social Media

Look for someone who might be near you and ask for their help in picking out the best spots to explore.
